We are an engineering company operating in and around Mackay, Central Queensland, Emerald, Townsville
and PNG. DGH Engineering have offices and workshops in Mackay, Emerald and an office in Townsville. We

Since 2005, DGH Engineering has earned a solid reputation for onsite maintenance, construction and
installation projects. We are also renowned for our high quality workshop fabrication, machining, fitting, and
the overhauling and repair of underground mining equipment as well as industrial tiling, poly spraying, abrasive
blasting and painting.

Dave Hackett – General Manager/Director
Dave is a trade qualified Fitter and Turner and also has a Diploma of Business Management. He has more
than 34 years’ experience in the industry. Dave has an outstanding background in the delivery of maintenance
and project services. Dave has the full range of skills required to effectively manage and deliver project and
maintenance services to client requirements. He is responsible for the management and commercial viability
of the company, including strategic planning and budgeting, major projects, new market opportunities and
Andrew Burgun – Operation Manager
Andrew has 24 yrs in the industry mainly in fabrication, onsite repair and maintenance and
construction/installation fields. He is a trade qualified Boilermaker with a Diploma of Business Management.
Andrew is responsible for the smooth running of all of our site projects. He began with us in 2006.
Trevor Wellby – Workshop Manager
Trevor has 26 yrs of fabrication experience. He is a Boilermaker by trade and has a Diploma of Business
Management. Trevor’s fields include light to heavy fabrication, modification and repairs. Trevor has been with
the company since it first began operation.
Tony Van Eldik – HR Manager
Tony has a Fitting and Turning background with 37 years’ experience within the sugar, coal mining and fertilizer
industries. When working in the sugar industry Tony was involved with international refined bulk sugar
distribution which required travel to overseas ports. After leaving the sugar industry Tony spent four years
operating his own successful business. Tony started with DGH Engineering in early 2007 as a recruitment
coordinator and accepted the role of HR Manager in 2010. He has completed a Diploma of Business
Management and continually keeps updated with all facets of HR/IR legislation through conferences and
organisations such as Chamber of Commerce, Industry Queensland and local forums.
Chris Tambling – Southern Area Manager
With 18 years industry experience, Chis is located in Emerald. He is a trade qualified fitter with much
experience in fixed plant repair and maintenance with advanced skills in the material handling and in particular
prep plants. Chris has project Managed many construction projects. He has been with DGH Engineering for 8yrs.
Kym Camilleri – Administration Manager
Kym has 18 yrs of business management experience within accountancy and administration positions. She
has a bachelor in Business (Accounting), Certificate in Rehabilitation Case Management and a Cert IV in
Occupational Health and Safety. Kym manages an efficient administration team which looks after all facets of
payroll, accounting and administration support within the company.
John Ryland – Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Manager
John has 22 yrs industry experience ranging from hands on to managerial positions. He has been the Safety
Manager at DGH Engineering since 2011. John has a Diploma in Business Management, Cert IV in Occupation
Health and Safety, is a Rehabilitation Return to Work Co-ordinator and a Workplace Health and Safety Officer.

DGH Engineering is able to provide a project with the full complement of personnel and experience required to take the project from planning to fabrication to construction/installation; then commissioning. We can also perform the ongoing maintenance to your plant and equipment. We provide a specialist integrated fabrication and engineering service that can respond to construction, maintenance and shutdowns. Our workshop operates 24/7 (if and when required). The owners work in the business and are contactable 24/7, so as to provide the highest level of service to our clients. We enjoy good relationships with our local suppliers and can get assistance, products and equipment any time of day or night to ensure that your breakdown/project is attended to immediately.
The owners of DGH Engineering are also the managers. If DGH Engineering fails to provide clients with the service they require, then they believe they have failed. They have too much to lose by not ensuring that they provide the highest possible level of service. They only employ people, in key roles, that share these values. A wealth of industry experience is the one thing that DGH Engineering can boast. The six Managers have a combined total of 130 years of experience.
Training and Skills
DGH Engineering has aligned ourselves with a Recognised Training Organisation (RTO). This allows us to perform our own in-house high risk training. This includes Working at Heights, Confined Space, Non Slew Crane, Doggers, Forklift and Overhead Crane.
DGH Engineering commitment to the recruitment and retention of quality personnel is the primary reason that we have been able to consistently deliver a high quality service to our clients. We currently employ over 215 specialist workers including Engineers, Draftspersons, Welding Supervisors, QA Co-Ordinators, Project Managers, Supervisors, Leading Hands, Safety Co-Ordinators/Officers, Planners, Boilermakers, Fitters, Machinists, Welders, Crane Operators, Scaffolders, Abrasive Blasters, Industrial Painters, Industrial Tilers, Poly Applicators, Riggers, Trade Assistants and Cleaners. The majority of workers hold mine generic (Standard 11) inductions. Our site personnel also have confined space and working at heights.
DGH Engineering is committed to the training of apprentices. We are an equal employment opportunity (EEO) employer and employ both mature aged and school leavers, male and female. We currently train at least 4 apprentices a year. Our company has a good success rate of retaining our apprentices after they have completed their apprenticeship, with some of who are now working in supervisory and mentoring roles. Our employees are continually undergoing extensive training to maintain and upgrade their skills. Boilermakers are required to complete our in-house weld test prior to being employed and are required to comply with Australian Codes and Standards as a minimum.
