Owned and operated by locals including three brothers Peter, Ben and Luke Phillips, and Peter’s wife Denise Phillips; along with Eric Rickman and Ben Kerrisk, Gardian is a dynamic company that thrives on relationships. As CEO of Gardian, Peter with the support of other Directors is responsible for the strategic direction and focus of this multi-disciplined finance, real estate, wealth creation and asset protection company. With a long history in the banking and finance industry and the original franchisee for the Phillips Mortgage Choice division of the business, Peter is highly experienced in delivering a customer service experience to clients that is based on exceptional value and positive outcomes.

After graduation, Denise spent eight years working in the Human Services field, for both government and government-funded organisations. In 2000, she focused her energy not only on commencing a family, but also in establishing Phillips Mortgage Choice with her husband, Peter. Denise continues to be involved in the overall management and growth of Gardian, in particular with the Mortgage Choice and Mortgage Choice Financial Planning brands.

Luke has more than 15 years in the insurance industry specialising in commercial and corporate insurance services and in 2006, established Gardian Insurance Broking. Luke and his team are experienced, hands-on commercial insurance brokers and clients enjoy being able to pick up the phone to personally discuss issues them. Luke's personal understanding of his client’s businesses puts him clearly in their corner. Gardian Insurance Brokers is the region's only 100% locally owned and operated licensed general insurance firms and the entire Gardian team work hard to deliver a personalised, professional service to clients.

His wide knowledge of the finance industry is well respected by clients and lenders alike. Ben is extremely proud of the fact that 75% of Phillips Mortgage Choice business is made up of repeat customers and Ben’s personal approach to touch base with clients on a regular basis is testament to this high percentage.

Eric is widely respected for his direct and honesty-first approach in the traditionally tough real estate and property market. Eric has been a Principal and property sales consultant for more than ten years in the Mackay region and closely follows the mantra of "you reap what you sew" and knows that if you do the right thing by your client, repeat business and strong recommendations will follow. This mantra has become a key operating philosophy of the Gardian Real Estate division and the company is growing as a result of this culture. Providing outstanding customer service is a key focus for Eric and he loves to lead by example.

After working as a Teacher and Deputy Principal of a local primary school, Ben completely changed career paths and entered the real estate industry in 2008. Ben’s calm and friendly approach, coupled with fresh and innovative marketing practices has helped Gardian Real Estate achieve outstanding results. Ben is a true professional, and works hard to develop systems and processes so that both client’s and staff achieve positive outcomes.
“I worked for 13 years as a Teacher and Deputy Principal of a local primary school before I made the natural transition into the real estate industry in 2008. I call it natural because I’m still in education, whether it be educating myself; educating buyers; educating sellers or educating colleagues. It’s just that the subject has changed. It’s not mathematics anymore, its real estate. When I was younger I saw many people close to me make some poor property choices.
